I have a giant roam boardman mountain bike and on one fatty do 50 mile rides on each of them the fat bike is now my go to bike.

It is vastly amusing in that it mostly doesn t care what it s riding on and the bbshd means the biggest disadvantage of a fat bike slowness just goes away. It doesn t have the same shock absorption as a mountain bike with shocks but the tires have plenty for most purposes. I m a specialized fanboy for road bikes but cannondale mtbs just fit me perfectly. I just can t decide whether to go full fat or if something like a mid fat is a better choice.

Fat bikes are good on smooth singletrack in the summer. Of course fat bikes are the best choice if you want to bike in the winter. I have a bbshd d fat bike. All things fat bike.

Photos events videos stories. Fat bikes are the phil kessel of mountain biking. They have no business being as quick as they are based on how they look. Depends on the type of trail obviously but to just assume fat bikes are slow is a bit narrow minded.

If you are riding for exercise and fun i would only recommend the fat bike from the off road capability to the sheer smile factor the fat bike brings it does take a little more effort but that to me is mainly felt in the getting up to speed.
